MERCEDES WITH BLACK LIVERY IN 2021 SEASON!

Mercedes to keep black livery for 2021 season. Lewis Hamilton urged the Mercedes hierarchy to change its traditional silver livery last year.

The Independent confirms that Mercedes will continue to race in an all black livery in 2021, while Lewis Hamilton contract talks are in full swing.

Mercedes introduced an all black livery and driver overalls in 2020, at Lewis Hamilton’s suggestion, in an effort to fight racism and inequality. Last year team boss Toto Wolff already hinted that the black livery will remain in 2021, and now the Independent also confirms the story.

Seeing how Lewis Hamilton was the main driving force behind the livery change, and he is yet to sign a contract extension, it would be quite strange to see a black Mercedes without the seven-time champion.

The Independent also confirms that “both parties have been in dialogue in recent weeks, and although discussions are progressing, a conclusion to the saga is not imminent”, however Mercedes expects Hamilton “will extend his stay” with the team.
