SCHUMACHER - TODAY IS THE 7TH YEAR OF THAT HORRIBLE ACCIDENT

A Formula One legend and widely considered one of the greatest drivers in the history of the sport, Michael Schumacher has seven World Championship titles. Sadly, the former F1 driver is still recovering from catastrophic injuries sustained in a skiing accident on December 29, 2013 shortly after he retired.

Seven years to the day that F1 legend Michael Schumacher suffered a horrendous accident on the slopes of Meribel in the Alps. Today, as the pandemic ravages on, the streets are quiet

“I am really surprised how often I do think about him and how much I wish he would be around in the same we we used to know him. It still makes me sad what happened on that day. He was my childhood idol, I had a lot of posters in my room, watched every race and cheered for Schumi. I would be so curious to hear his thoughts about Mick, Seb’s time at Ferrari, Lewis equalizing his records.” Ken – #KeepFightingMichael.

Seven years ago today, seven-time Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher was on holiday with his family, skiing in the French Alps. He and his then 14-year-old son Mick were descending the ‘Combe de Saulire’ in Meribel when the F1 legend fell and hit his head on a rock.

Even though he had been wearing a helmet at the time, Schumacher was seriously injured and airlifted to Grenoble Hospital. He underwent two emergency surgeries to stabilise his condition and save his life, and subsequently put into a medically induced coma.

Ever since the accident, the Schumacher family has asked for privacy, fiercely guarding all news about his condition. FIA president Jean Todt appears to be the only outsider who is allowed to regularly visit the great champion at his home in Switzerland, or in Spain.

But the Frenchman has always honoured his duty of confidentiality.

Michael Schumacher’s absence has left a massive hole in the world of motorsport and he is much missed by his fans and everyone who knew him in the paddock, who continue to hope that one day he will win his battle for recovery.

As usual, our thoughts on this day are with his family, including wife Corinna, son Mick and daughter Gina-Marie.
