COVID-19 RUSSELL WILL SUBMIT TO ANOTHER TEST TODAY

Williams confirmed to RaceFans Casanovas tested negative for Covid-19 yesterday. He will have another “precautionary” test tomorrow and consult the FIA before deciding how to proceed.
George Russell is facing somewhat of an anxious wait for his latest test results after his trainer display mild respiratory symptoms.
Williams confirmed on the eve of media day at Imola that Russell’s trainer, Aleix Casanovas, entered self-isolation on Thursday after experiencing the symptoms and will undergo a Covid-19 test away from the paddock on Friday.
Also getting set for his latest test is Russell, who last had contact with Casanovas on race day in Portugal. He was last tested on Tuesday and returned a negative result.
‘After displaying mild respiratory symptoms this morning, Williams can confirm that George Russell’s performance coach is self-isolating today in line with FIA guidelines,’ Williams reported.
‘A COVID-19 test collected yesterday was negative. However, he will undergo a further precautionary test again tomorrow outside the paddock before taking further directions from the FIA.
‘He has not been in contact with George since race day in Portugal. George undertook his scheduled COVID-19 test on Tuesday in order to enter Italy today – which was also confirmed as negative.
‘He will be retested at the track on Friday as part of the team’s regular testing schedule.’
If Russell was to return a positive result and miss out on the race weekend at Imola, Williams reserve and development driver Jack Aitken is with the team and ready to step in.
Russell would become the third driver to miss a Formula 1 race due to a positive Covid-19 test after Racing Point duo Sergio Perez and Lance Stroll.
Perez missed both rounds at Silverstone, while Stroll fell ill at the Eifel Grand Prix. Nico Hulkenberg stepped in and performed admirably on both occasions.
