MARKO : GASLY ISN’T IN LINE FOR PROMOTION

The Red Bull top man, Gasly is not in line for another promotion.
Gasly was promoted to Red Bull last season only to be dropped back down to Toro Rosso, now AlphaTauri, midway through the championship.
Retained by AlphaTauri for 2020 the Frenchman has be one of the star performers on the grid.
This has led to calls from the outside for Red Bull to return Gasly to the senior team, especially as the driver who replaced him, Alex Albon, is underperforming.
Red Bull, though, is adamant it is sticking with Albon and that Gasly isn’t in line for a promotion.
Red Bull has shut the door on Pierre Gasly with Helmut Marko saying he “will drive” for AlphaTauri next season.
Gasly has been one of the star drivers in this year’s championship, scoring points in eight out of 12 grands prix.
One of those top ten results was a victory at the Italian Grand Prix, only the team’s second Formula 1 race win.
Sitting on 63 points, he is just one behind Alexander Albon, the driver who replaced him at Red Bull midway through last year’s championship.
Pundits are shouting for Red Bull to put Gasly back in the senior team, however, the team is digging its heels in.
Marko has made it abundantly clear that the Red Bull door is shut for the Frenchman.
“We have made our decision for Gasly,” he told RTL.
“He will drive for AlphaTauri and his team-mate will be announced after the Bahrain Grand Prix at the latest.”
That team-mate is expected to be Yuki Tsonoda with Daniil Kvyat once again on his way towards the exit door.
As for Albon, the Red Bull advisor is adamant that the team will continue to support the Thai-British racer.
With just top three showing this season, Albon is 98 points behind his team-mate Max Verstappen and showing, at least from the outside, no sign of closing the gap.
Marko, though, insists he is.
“Alex needs more consistency,” he said.
“Sometimes he is not far behind Max but sometimes the gap is too big.
“While he is progressing, he is our driver and we are in no hurry to decide.”
