EIFEL GP : SERGIO PEREZ IS PATIENT FOR HIS FUTURE IN FORMULA 1

Last month, Racing Point confirmed four-time F1 champion Sebastian Vettel would be replacing Perez for next season where the team will be rebranded as Aston Martin.

Perez has limited options available with Haas looking the most likely option on the table, while Alfa Romeo is an outside shot as Kimi Raikkonen is expected to retain his seat despite dismissing reports claiming that he has already signed a deal.

When asked about his future ahead of this weekend’s Eifel Grand Prix in Germany, Perez said: “At the moment there’s nothing to report, nothing has been signed. There has been some progress. I think it’s going to take a bit more time and I think in Formula 1 until you don’t have anything signed everything is in the air so nothing really to say.”

At the Russian Grand Prix, Red Bull team boss Christian Horner confirmed his intentions to retain Alexander Albon alongside Max Verstappen for 2021 but admitted is he is “aware” of alternative options such as Perez or Nico Hulkenberg.

When asked about the prospect of Red Bull, the Mexican said he is keeping his options open.

“I am sure they know. As I say, right now it’s just a matter of keeping all the doors open and be patient as well, Perez added. “I am in no hurry so let’s see what comes up in the next couple of weeks.

“As I say, I don’t have really a lot to say in that regard. Right now, I am fully focused on my season with my team. I think we made some good progress, we are getting my season back on track. I just want to deliver weekend after weekend.

“We’re close to the third in the constructors’ championship so that’s the focus right now. The future is a matter of time and to be honest we don’t have a lot more to say.”
