RUSSIAN GP : RICCIARDO HAPPY WITH RENAULT’S RESULT

Ricciardo picked up a five-second penalty for failing to follow the correct route at Turn 2 after going off having locked up just as Ocon was ordered to let him past.
Daniel Ricciardo is satisfied with his race at the Russian Grand Prix. The Renault team performed well at the Sochi Autodrome.
Ricciardo did make a number of small mistakes. Nevertheless, the Renault team eventually managed to secure a fifth and seventh position.
“I am happy with the outcome. There were times during this race where I made mistakes. However, I did not give up and recovered myself”, Ricciardo told Sky Sports after the race.
The driver made a good number of small mistakes, such as in the overtaking action on teammate Esteban Ocon. In the end, that resulted in a five-second penalty. According to him, that punishment was justified.
“If you look at it as a neutral spectator, it is easy to talk. However, you cannot see everything from the car. “
“You do not see the curb and therefore not when you go over it or not. That’s why I had to accelerate at the end, I didn’t make it easy for myself.”
Not a perfect race. But the driver does take a lot of confidence with him to the last races of the season.
“It was not perfect, but overall I am happy with what we achieved today. Fifth and seventh, reliability is good, have a good weekend. I have quite a lot of confidence in it for the rest of the circuits this year.”
