MASSA BELIEVES FERRARI WAS RIGHT NOT TO RENEW VETTEL CONTRACT

Ferrari may have made the best choice to oust Sebastian Vettel, according to the team’s former driver Felipe Massa.
Sebastian Vettel: Ferrari great Massa feels that with his team struggling, they were right to let go of Sebastian Vettel to bring in Carlos Sainz.
Brazilian F1 legend Felipe Massa knows it all about racing for the iconic Ferrari outfit. He was an accomplished driver for the Italian team from 2006 to 2013, never managing to win a title though. He came extremely close in the F1 2008 season, but ultimately finished 2nd overall.
Sebastian Vettel has faced a similar fate at Ferrari, that is not winning a world title with the team. Vettel won all of his four World Championships with Red Bull Racing, before making the switch. His term has not been great though, like Massa, especially his last season this year. And Massa has commented on this, calling it fitting that Ferrari are letting go of Vettel after the end of this season.
”It is very sad to see such an important team suffering like this. Nobody wants this Ferrari. Vettel’s time has come and if you look at this season’s performance it is clear that Ferrari has made the right choice to extend its contract.”
The Brazilian is happy with the fresh blood for the Italian team. ”Carlos is a good driver. He is young and can grow a lot. Of course, they need a good car first, but I hope for Ferrari. It is an exceptional team with which I have a lot of affinities, just as you can have with a religion”, concludes Massa.
