HAMILTON, CALL FOR PROTECTION OF THE RAINFOREST “DEFORESTATION OF THE AMAZON MUST STOP”

Lewis Hamilton and a host of stars have joined forces with WWF to call for the protection of the Amazon rainforest.
The racing driver, 35, spoke out in the video, titled Time’s Running Out, warning that ‘our home is burning’.
He said in the clip, while holding a lit match aloft: ‘Last summer, the Amazon rainforest burned. The fires were lit deliberately, driven by deforestation.
‘This caused widespread devastation and unimaginable suffering to the indigenous communities and wildlife that live there.’
Lewis Hamilton is in a new campaign against deforestation of the Amazon. In a video, made by the British branch of the World Wildlife Fund, he expresses his concerns and the Mercedes driver stresses that the devastation must be stopped as soon as possible.
“This must stop right away, we must prevent it together by speaking out against it”, explains the six-time world champion, who regularly makes himself heard in social debates on issues such as the environment and equality. Deforestation in Brazil is caused by forest fires that are deliberately started.
According to Hamilton, it is ‘heartbreaking’ to see entire communities, animal groups and landscapes disappear as a result of deforestation. In addition to the Brit, WWF is giving a number of other familiar faces the stage to create awareness for the subject.
