MARKO AND HORNER ARE DISAPPOINTED AFTER TUSCAN GP

Red Bull Racing leaves Mugello with a mixed feelings. Alexander Albon took his first podium place in Formula 1 in the Tuscan Grand Prix, but Max Verstappen struggled on Sunday with engine problems that need to be investigated further.

(Marko -Horner Tuscan GP )- Helmut Marko is disappointed with the results of the Grand Prix of Tuscany. The adviser at Red Bull Racing thinks the team could have had better chances to win if Max Verstappen didn’t have bad luck with his engine. That gives a nasty aftertaste, just as Alexander Albon clinched his first podium place with the team.

“Of course it’s disappointing for us, we had the speed and easily passed Hamilton. Looking at the tire deterioration at the Mercedes, we could have won the race”, said Marko at Sky Deutschland.

The breakdown with the car turned out to be fatal for the Red Bull Racing team. “We had a lot of bad luck with the car today, Honda is now investigating what the problem is. It looks like it is the same defect as in Monza. Of course I hope that next time everything will be normal, because we are convinced that we are better than Mercedes!”

Horner : “It is enormously disappointing for him”

“A bittersweet day but it’s fantastic to see Alex take his first F1 podium. He’s done a great job all weekend”, says team boss Christian Horner in a Red Bull press release. The Brit commends Albon for his beautiful overtaking manoeuvres.

“Unfortunately, Max was unable to show us what he had today after such a promising qualifying and positive feeling ahead of the race. He did the hard bit with a great initial launch and was alongside Lewis, but then he experienced a loss of power which caused him to drop into the middle of the pack where he was hit from behind, ending his race in the gravel”, Horner continued.

Horner hates the situation at Verstappen, because he thinks Red Bull’s overall package was very strong in Tuscany. “It is enormously disappointing for him. The issue is being looked into by Honda and the Team in order to ensure this does not happen again.”
