GASLY MOVED BY HAMILTON’S WORDS: ‘I LOOK UP TO HIM’

Pierre Gasly said Lewis Hamilton’s words of praise after his Italian Grand Prix win were “very touching” and has revealed how much advice the reigning world champion has given him in recent months.

(Gasly Hamilton) – After his first victory in Formula 1, Pierre Gasly openly tells about who his great examples are. Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel are at the top. The words spoken by the six-time world champion after Gasly’s victory moved the Frenchman.

It was an incredible moment for Gasly when he won the Italian Grand Prix. Nobody would have deemed it possible that the downgraded Red Bull rider in an AlphaTauri could have won the GP at Monza. The Frenchman subsequently received congratulations from footballers Neymar and Kylian Mbappé, among others. The President of his home country Emmanuel Macron also phoned him.

In conversation with ESPN, the Frenchman opened a book about how much he has learned from Lewis Hamilton in recent years: “Lewis is a special person to me. I think he is one of the best drivers ever in F1. What he said after the race touched me.”

It is very special for the Frenchman that the ‘almost seven-time world champion’ talks about him in this way. When Gasly was still ten years old, he was already looking at Lewis in the sport. “I have got to know him better in recent years. We had contact Saturday before the race because I asked for his advice on certain things. He has always been very nice to me, very open, always helpful”.

In addition to Lewis Hamilton, Gasly is also very impressed by Sebastian Vettel: “I always try to wonder and understand how they have achieved their successes. I am impressed that Hamilton has been so dominant since his first season in F1”.
