The transfer market in Formula 1 already seems to be closed to a large extent. Daniel Ricciardo will make the switch to McLaren next season. After frustrating years with the Renault team, it is clear that he is looking for the way forward. But why did McLaren hire him?

F1 website gives an insight into what makes Daniel Ricciardo precisely the right man for McLaren. The Australian has shown in his career that he is capable of a lot, maybe even podium finishes for McLaren in the next season.

According to Lawrence Baretto, Formula 1 journalist, he has all the ingredients to make it happen. According to him, there is no doubt about the speed of the Australian. “It’s all about the pressure he puts on himself to perform and his desire to bring a team forward. That makes him very attractive as a driver,” said Baretto.

Besides, the journalist believes that Ricciardo has the right characteristics of a great Formula 1 driver. “Ricciardo is good at finding and improving his weaknesses, but also good at keeping perspective. The Australian always looks further and knows how to put his loss in perspective. Ricciardo in a McLaren with Mercedes power source promises much good’.
