SERGIO PEREZ : I’M NOT GONNA MAKE ROOM FOR VETTEL

Racing Point’s Sergio Perez says he’s confident he will not be replaced by Sebastian Vettel in 2021 despite speculation.
Sebastian Vettel is expected to announce in Belgium next week that he will sign for Racing Point next season, which will continue under the name Aston Martin from 2021. The German will then most likely take Sergio Perez’s seat, as Lance Stroll will bring a lot of money to the team. The Mexican himself, however, does not expect the switch.
Because Lawrence Stroll has a lot of influence on the team, Perez’s position is most at risk. However, he doesn’t see it that way himself. “I won’t make room either, I hope so,” Perez explains to Sky Sports. “At the moment, everything indicates that I’ll continue with the team, so we’ll see what happens.”
The Mexican missed two races at Silverstone and was back in Spain after a mandatory two-week break. With a fifth place he achieved a good result, but it certainly doesn’t ensure that Perez stays with the team. Because Vettel has to leave Ferrari, the German is looking for other possibilities.
There are a lot of rumours going around that he is going to make the switch to Racing Point, after there were already rumours that he would go to Mercedes or Red Bull Racing. According to Perez, those rumors will soon come to an end. “I feel pretty confident about my seat and I expect it’s only a matter of time before all the rumours can go away,” Perez said.
