Toto Wolff confirms Mercedes now ready to sign F1 deal – Concorde agreement

Toto Wolff confirms that Mercedes is prepared to sign the Concorde Agreement for Formula One.
Mercedes Formula One’s team boss, Toto Wolff, raised questions about his future again on Friday but also indicated that the championship-winning team is now ready to reach an agreement with Liberty Media, the commercial rights holder.
Toto Wolff, head of Mercedes Formula One, recently noted that negotiations were not favorable towards the team, but the situation has now improved and they are receiving proper recognition.
The deadline for signing, which was initially set for Wednesday, August 12, has been extended to August 18, but the ultimate deadline stays the same and is still on August 31.
On Friday, Wolff stated: “I have been openly expressing my thoughts after our team meetings about the necessary actions and clarifications required for us to progress.”
“However, my viewpoint altered after Silverstone. I no longer believe that the teams will come together as one. Each team tries to make individual deals behind the scenes. There is a culture of blaming others in the media.”
“Therefore, we have chosen to proceed with Liberty. I had productive conversations with Chase over the past weekend and we were able to discuss and clear up most of the questions we had.”
“I believe we have reached a positive stage to sign the Concorde Agreement and move forward.”
He also stated: “What frustrated me was that the teams are unable to come together and form a unified position.”
He continued: “Not in opposition to Liberty or FOM, but in our meetings everyone seems to have a shared interest in the same clarifications and changes to contracts that are essential. But we still fail to come together and present a united front.”
“Afterwards, when the meetings are over, I hear opinions on air that greatly differ from what was discussed during the meeting. This is a source of frustration for me and I don’t understand why this occurs.”
“I have unambiguously stated my stance to those who promptly call me after the meeting has ended.”
“I have reached the conclusion that if the teams are unable to present a unified front for the benefit of all teams, then we must revert to having separate positions.”
