FERRARI IS OPEN TO SWAPPING SEBASTIAN VETTEL CHASSIS

Ferrari is open to swapping Sebastian Vettel’s chassis if the four-time world champion feels there is a ‘fundamental problem’ in the car he drove in the past two races, Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto told Motorsport.

Vettel did not enjoy the double Grands Prix at Silverstone. The German only got one point from the doubleheader in his Ferrari: In the fourth race of the season, he finished tenth and the week after he came twelfth. It is striking that teammate Charles Leclerc finished third and fourth.

If Vettel wants to change course and start the Spanish Grand Prix with a new chassis, then that is an option, according to Binotto. “It is something at least which I didn’t discuss [yet]. That’s part of the discussion we have within teams. I think we are open if it is something that may help. Why not?,” he said.

“I think whatever we can do to help is important for us, for Sebastian, and I think from a team point of view and a driver point of view, to try to make better in the next races. It is important, so open to do it. I will leave it to the driver and the team to discuss and decide,” he concluded.
