F1 LANDO NORRIS ABOUT FANS I VE MISSED THEM A LOT

No spectators have been allowed into F1 races held so far this year in a bid to minimise the risks to public health amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Lando Norris misses the fans on the track and compares the atmosphere at the F1 races with a round of karting. With two home races for the Brit on the Silverstone circuit, this hurts even more, he reports to Motorsport.

“It’s just like when I was karting. You’re just there to race, you don’t really put on a show,” says Norris. Driving past empty bleachers hurts him: “I miss the F1 fans and their emotion. I think every driver has that, even the mechanics.”

With two races to be held at F1 Silverstone before 2020, Norris feels that his home race has just been taken away from him. “At the end of the day, the fans will make it a home race, otherwise it’ll just be another standard track on the calendar.”

Lando Norris will hunt for his first points finish in F1 at Silverstone: in 2019 the young driver finished in eleventh place, which was just not enough to win a World Championship point. Teammate Carlos Sainz finished sixth.
