NORBERT HAUG IF HAMILTON WAS AT FERRARI HE WOULDN'T BE CHAMPION

Ferrari doesn’t stand a chance this season, it’s not a positive situation.

Norbert Haug sees that Lewis Hamilton has done well at Mercedes and Sebastian Vettel has had a very difficult time at Ferrari.

The former Mercedes boss would therefore not expect to see Hamilton with another team. The prospects for the Scuderia are still not encouraging, Haug predicts.

“If Lewis was at Ferrari now, he wouldn’t have been a winning driver”, Haug told Sky. Mercedes was challenged by Ferrari very much. Particularly, when Ferrari would have the most powerful engine. I’ve worked with the Mercedes boys long enough. If you show them a red cloth, they will really attack.”

Especially for Vettel, the current situation at Ferrari is unfortunate. “It was no longer possible for Sebastian to continue at Ferrari. These are difficult times in Formula 1 where you have to show your potential and develop the car further. Of course there is a lack of performance”, said Haug about Ferrari, where they face difficult weekends ahead. “Silverstone is a performance-oriented circuit. I can’t imagine Ferrari coming out of the corners so fast.”

The German journalist looks up to the current Mercedes car. “The level of perfection achieved in the past six years is unrivalled in racing history. But there will always be exceptional races, for example due to an unexpected safety car or rain. Then you should be ready to attack if Mercedes fails. But in my view, superiority has never been as clear as it is now”, concludes Haug.
