F1 : BRAZILIAN GP ORGANISATION MAY TAKE LEGAL ACTION AGAINST FORMULA 1

In Brazil, Formula 1 did not make friends by canceling this year’s Grand Prix.
The decision of Formula 1 regarding Interlagos left Tamas Rohonyi, promotor of the 2020 Brazilian Grand Prix, perplexed. He cannot agree with the reasons given for cancelling the race.
The decision came from Liberty Media, Rohony told Motorsport.com. He was informed by letter that there will be no racing at Interlagos in 2020. According to him, unilateral cancellation can only take place if there is a force majeure and that is not the case according to him.
Liberty Media states that the situation in Brazil regarding the coronavirus, since the country is the most affected after the United States, the associated restrictions and security are the reasons for not racing in the South American country. Rohonyi cannot agree with that. “If you look at the figures of São Paulo (where Interlagos is located), even Brazil, in a proportional base, compared to England, it’s much better”
Despite this, Rohonyi says he is not surprised by the news. “First of all this cancellation caught us not by surprise, but I must say the justification, the reasoning behind it, we cannot accept”, he says. “They talk about the virus infection rate in Brazil, which is a bit like comparing California to Florida in a country like Brazil, which is of continental dimensions”. Coincidentally, California and Florida are the most severely affected U.S. states by the coronavirus.
Now it seems they are keen to investigate whether legal action can be taken against Formula 1: “We are being advised on this, as both the municipality and my own company are facing huge losses.”
