BRUNDLE : OCON MUST REALISE THAT WORKING AS A TEAM IS NOT A WEAKNESS

Martin Brundle is best known now as an expert Formula 1 commentator and analyst, whose grid walks have become legendary in the sport.

Martin Brundle thinks Esteban Ocon should be less aggressive to his teammates. It has already been shown in the past that his own success sometimes gets in his way. That is, according to Brundle, a major turnoff for top teams.

During the Styrian Grand Prix, Daniel Ricciardo and Ocon met on the track. Ricciardo was – on a harder compound – considerably faster than the Frenchman. Still, he held up his Australian teammate for a few laps.

Brundle also noticed: “Renault was in the situation where Ricciardo should have been helped by his teammate Ocon”. Presumably it cost Ricciardo some positions at the end of the race.

British Sky Sports-analyst continues: “Esteban is an impressive driver who enjoys fighting. However, he has to realise that working together is not a sign of weakness, but a quality that top teams are looking for.”

“Ricciardo and Ocon got in each other’s way as they enter a season where they have to fight McLaren and Racing Point all year round”, he concludes. Any help is welcome in such an exciting battle.
