F1 : THIRD AUSTRIAN GRAND PRIX ? WHAT HAPPEN

With less than a week to go before the Formula 1 trip to Budapest, could the Hungarian Grand Prix be called into question?

F1 : Third Austrian Grand Prix ? What’s happened. In the paddock, there may be talk of a third race at the Red Bull Ring, now that there are seemingly some problems regarding the race in Hungary. According to Alexander Wurz, Chase Carey, CEO of Formula 1, is considering whether this would be a viable option for the drivers.

“Carey asked me what the drivers think if we drove three times on the Red Bull Ring,” Wurz starts talking to ORF. “I said, if it’s the only solution, we can drive it ten times. We would rather drive here more often than not race at all. This option can be there and you can switch quickly. All safety marshals and equipment are already here,” says Wurz.

The former Formula 1 driver continues: “It is likely to be organized, but then you should know before Sunday evening. It may be that the race in Hungary will not take place. If you know that in the next 24 hours, it is quite possible that we will be back here next week”, Wurz concludes.

UPDATE Sunday 12 July 11:00
A spokesperson for Formula 1 has told F1Lead the following:

“The suggestion that we stay in Austria for a third race is not correct. The whole Formula 1 community has started the season well in Austria and they are all very excited to go to our next race in Hungary – a circuit that is a big favourite with all our fans and the teams”.
