THE SECOND FREE PRACTICE OF THE GP OF AUSTRIA : HAMILTON ALWAYS DOMINATES

The first Formula 1 weekend of 2020 has started with the first free practice and after the first shooting in the morning, it is now time for the second free practice. Lewis Hamilton topped a Mercedes one-two.

Lewis Hamilton has finished the second practice session on the 2020 Formula 1 season at the top of the timesheets, posting a 1:04.304.

Hamilton maintained his lead over his teammate Valtteri Bottas from the morning session, with the Finn a couple of tenths slower.

As the teams continue to prepare for the season opener on Sunday, the drivers jumped back out on the track for a second 90 minute practice session. The midfield cars, who showed out in the first session, were first on the track with Racing Point taking the early lead.

The drivers really started to set the pace in this second session. Racing point continued to impress in the second session with Stroll and Perez leading the pack in the early stages. Hamilton and Bottas soon came out with the fastest times of the day after putting on soft tires.

Kvyat lost his grip on the track on turn 1 triggering a yellow flag, soon followed by a spin from Latifi of Williams, hinting that the track was still a bit slippery. Latifi took a second spin on turn 1 in the following lap.

Verstappen found himself off the track for the second time of the day on turn 5 but avoids any damage by utilizing an alternate road on the other side of the gravel. Not too long after, his teammate Albon faced troubles at turn 1 with a spin of his own. Both drivers were heard complaining of excessive oversteer in their radios. Red Bull will have to address this balance issue if they are to catch Mercedes, who are looking strong and potent as usual.
