MARKO: IF FERRARI CHEATS AGAIN IN 2020, WE WILL PROTEST

Last year, the Ferrari team played according to the rules. From nowhere, the Italian racing team was dominant after the summer break and even Mercedes could no longer keep up with the Ferraris.
Marko: If Ferrari cheats again in 2020, we will protest. This caused a lot of rumors, pointing directly to the engine; the extra power was clearly discernible in a straight line and on particular laps.
Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko isn’t planning to sit back and encounter the same problems with Ferrari in 2020, he announced in an interview with Motorsport Total. In a lengthy interview, the Austrian noticed what had happened, which meant that Max Verstappen, for the time being, had no chance of winning the podium.
FERRARI IS LOOKING FOR GRAY AREAS IN THE REGULATIONS
Several teams had already requested to the FIA to discern Ferrari’s sudden wins and dominant performances. However, the FIA took no action, much to Helmut Marko’s dismay: “Several teams had reported to the FIA to review the performance of the Ferrari engine. This had been reported for quite some time. Ferrari was suspected. Gray areas were investigated and we wanted to make matters clear, but the FIA did not step in.”
“It was very noticeable that the performance of Ferrari had improved unexpectedly. The extra power that suddenly became available was displayed in some specific laps. If you look at what’s happened now after tightening the rules, you can only conclude that it is linked and that something was wrong.”
RED BULL IS PROTESTING
Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto recently mentioned in a vague manner that he isn’t expecting to dominate this year and that the engine and chassis need to be reworked. He seemed to be referring to the period when Ferrari did prevail and to the “normal” performance once the rules were adjusted.
It is not expected that the Italian team will apply the same trick this year, but Marko is wary: “If a similar situation recurs, Ferrari will have to hand everything over to the FIA, after which a thorough investigation will be carried out. I don’t expect a trick like last year, but if that happens, we, Red Bull, will certainly file a report with the FIA. “
