WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO MERCEDES AFTER ASTON MARTIN ANNOUNCEMENT

It was announced today that Aston Martin and Racing Point will partner up for the 2021 season. Part of this deal sees Racing Point set to change their name to Aston Martin F1 from 2021.

What will happen at Mercedes after Aston Martin’s announcement. There were plenty of rumors suggesting that Aston Martin could buy out Mercedes and many are wondering now where Mercedes’ future in the sport lies.

There have been strong rumors for a long time that Mercedes as a manufacturer would like to leave Formula 1. The German manufacturers want to put a focus on electric driving and perhaps focus on Mercedes in Formula E.

However, Mercedes don’t want to just drop out of the sport. They want a buyer and for a long time there were strong rumors about Lawrence Stroll investing in Aston Martin and together with that manufacturer, take over Mercedes.

The rumor turned out to be partially true with Lawrence Stroll and Aston Martin linking up but the part about buying Mercedes didn’t turn out to be. Instead the company will take over Racing Point.

Mercedes are therefore left with a dilemma. Do they look for a new buyer or just remain in the sport?

It will be interesting to see what the German team does and whether they stay in the sport.
