NORRIS CONFIDENT YET REALISTIC ABOUT 2020 MCLAREN

After a 2019 campaign smoothly led by McLaren, Lando Norris perceives in 2020 the opportunity for Woking to leap to the highest level into a new headland during his return. Without however making any inaccurate high claims.
Mclaren still has a long way to go before competing for the World title in F1. But in 2019, Woking has undoubtedly laid most interesting foundations for the future. By winning a certainly deserved fourth place in the constructors’ fight, and showing off solid and frequent performances.
As chief executive officer Zak Brown recently announced, McLaren’s goal this year would be narrowing the gap even further with the mad Mercedes – Ferrari – Red Bull trio, without sacrificing the season for 2021, and the new technical regulations.

With this in mind, Lando Norris believes that the English team should still reach a milestone in 2020. “The team, I think, have done a very good job in working on, particularly, the areas in which we were not good last year” said Norris. Quoted directly from the official F1 website.
“There were many, but there were more specific ones we struggled with. From the results I’ve seen, it’s looking positive. We want to be saying we’re going to take a step forward and I think we can be confident in that – but how big of a step is unknown compared to the other teams.”

As for the more explicit goals of he whose best result remains a sixth place in 2019 considering he won his 1st podium in Brazil, the Briton Carlos Sainz, wishes to be careful.
“I’m not going to say that we’re going to win races this season,” says Norris as an attempt to moderate, I’d love to, but I’m not going to overdo it. We have to be realistic. “
McLaren will present its MCL35 on February 13.
