ROKiT did update their branding – their typography was re-done and they settled for the red box to be permanent.
How Williams’ 2020 livery could look like….. You can see the old logo being used on Williams’ site from last year (on the header and on the page) and compare it to how it is currently.
Updating branding identity is not an easy task, and the changes don’t conclude themselves on the next day. When Rexona rebranded in 2014 Lotus still used the previous identity until the end of the season, Williams did used the updated identity but the previous one could still be seen in some advertisements and products. It took them until 2017 to finally conclude the switch (which didn’t last long, as last year they started to change the logo again).
This is my interpretation given the evidence I provided in my comment – I’m not keen on doing “fan concept” liveries that are completely disorganised, unrealistic and confusing. I have my doubts Williams will drop the gradient brandconcept as it was a group decision – you can read more about this here.
After the summer of 2019 ROKiT updated their branding identity to include a red box surrounding the typographic logo, as can be seen when Williams announced the extension of their deal with the company.
Later in the year ROKiT also signed a title sponsorship deal with Venturi Racing, turning their livery predominantely red alongside Venturi’s white and black. Considering all this, this is my interpretation of how the Williams livery could look like for this season – red engine cover and halo for ROKiT; ROKiT Drinks’ brands are featured with Bogart’s Spirits on the sidepods, Bandero Tequila on the rear wing and ABK Beer on the turning vanes. PONOS was added to the team’s portfolio of partners at the end of last year as well.
This livery bases on the FW43’s gradient concept so I’m guessing the FW44 will feature an evolution not a revolution. I do agree it’s not the best idea but if it works for them then so be it.
