TOTO WOLFF : I’LL KEEP HAMILTON BY MY SIDE

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff wants his teams’ domination to continue into 2020 so they can convince star driver Lewis Hamilton to sign a new contract. Hamilton’s current deal at Mercedes is up at the end of the 2020 season, with rumours of a move to Ferrari never being totally shut down.
Hamilton and Mercedes have won the last three titles together, controlling the sport in a way only seen before by Michael Schumacher in the early 2000s.
The Silver Arrows’ current driver line-up of Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas is arguably the strongest on the F1 grid and Wolff is keen to keep it that way.
He told Motorsport-Total: “Whatever we do in the future: The first conversation will always be with Lewis and Valtteri when we are discussing the future. We always handled it that way.
“At the same time, you also have to accept that drivers have goals. Fundamentally, the best drivers will always try to be in the best car. We have it under our own control. As long as we can offer them the best possible package, Lewis won’t be very interested elsewhere to go.
“At the same time, we remain attractive for supposedly other top drivers in Formula 1. That will be our core task in the next six months.”
