Mercedes has no choice but to speed up

James Allison, technical boss of Mercedes, the reigning world champion team, has stated that Mercedes must make its car significantly faster in order to beat Ferrari and Red Bull-Honda in the 2020 season. Although Mercedes won its sixth consecutive double world championships this year, Ferrari now possesses the best engine and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen is clearly targeting the 2020 title.
Allison has stated that Mercedes must improve its car if it wishes to stand a chance against the other two strong teams, saying, “It is clear to us that between today and Melbourne 2020 we have to make our car a lot faster if we want to have a chance against them.” However, he has also acknowledged that this will not be an easy task and that it will be the ultimate challenge.
Ferrari ended the 2019 season under suspicion regarding the legality of its engine, but Allison has stated that Mercedes has no choice but to speed up. He added that the Mercedes team needs to look at itself and find as much engine power as possible over the winter, while the chassis group will investigate where the team can efficiently reduce drag.
In conclusion, Mercedes, the six-time consecutive double world champion team, faces a tough challenge in the 2020 season against Ferrari and Red Bull-Honda, which are both very strong teams. James Allison, the technical boss of Mercedes, has acknowledged the need for the team to improve its car to stand a chance against the other two teams. He has also emphasized the need for the team to work on improving engine power and reducing drag. The 2020 season is set to be a very exciting one, with three very strong teams competing for the championship.
